As my first post as an initiate in the damage inc community, i just want to say that i'm grateful for this big opportunity and having a chance to actually be apart of something bigger then myself is amazing. Just the fact alone that i didn't get rejected shows me that i'm going to have a great time here. So the only thing i could do to make it up is return the favor and be the best that i can be in this community. And good luck other initiates i hope we can make it together. :)

You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward; how much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done! Thank you for your unwavering loyalty to the house, you have done more than i could ever ask.

One other important quality of being a leader that many often neglect until it's too late is knowing when to quit on an endeavor. Not all endeavors, projects, etc are created equal. Sometimes, you need to learn whether it's worth it to continue or abandon your project altogether.

Recruiting 101 Overview Recruiting is the lifeblood of DI. It is easy to learn once you understand the process, and the more time you spend doing it the higher your yield will be for every hour of effort you commit. Step 1: Identify Your Sources Identifying your sources is the critical first step to recruiting. These will be used to build your "pipelines" as you begin recruiting. A source is usually a common platform/medium where gamers congregate. Usually these are Reddits, Discord servers, steam groups and teamfind sites like dreamteam.gg and ChallengerMode. It varies from game to game, but doing a quick Google search along the lines of "Overwatch LFT sites" or "Rocket League Discords" will do the trick for you. Starting Recruiting Resources for the Big 7: - League of Legends - Overwatch - CS:GO - Rocket League - Rainbow 6 Siege - Apex Legends - Call of Duty To find Discords, Steam groups, or Reddits specifically, you have a few options. For Discords, you can Google "Rainbow Six Siege LFT Discords" and follow Reddit rabbit-trails to servers, or go straight to Disboard, a public Discord servers library. Disboard can narrow down searches by tags (Like League of Legends or LFT or Community) and you can go from there. Ultimately, the best way to find resources is research and trial and error. Some sources may remain untouched, or be new, or whatever. Mixing and matching keywords like LFT, Discord, Reddit, LFG, etc. with the name of the game in question usually yields the best results. Step 2: Building Your Pipeline Once you've got a Reddit or teamfind site to post on/PM people on it's time to build your pipeline. This will passively rack up people on your friends list on Discord or in your game client for you to talk to. Two general rules of thumb while you are posting or sending messages: Don't mention DI's name in this first contact (or mention that you're from a org/clan/community), and make sure you are PERSONAL. Take the extra 30 seconds and send them a message related to what they posted about, not some dumb, dry copypaste about a gaming community. Here's an example of what building a pipeline from r/LeagueConnect looks like: Make sure you include your other contact info, and watch the friend requests pour in. If you do this for 10 minutes a day on a few online sources to get your name out there you'll consistently get 1-2 people adding you who will be EASY sells every single day. Just takes the time investment to keep that pipeline filled. Never let it go empty and you'll never have an issue recruiting. Step 3: Proactively Recruiting This is the part many are uncomfortable with - the part that is best compared to hunting. While you wait for people to add you on Discord or in-game, go into the Discord server for your respective game. Find the LFG chat and look for the people who we consider targets. People who say they are new to the game, just looking for friends to play casually with, or looking for a competitive team are the 3 main types of people that thrive here in Damage Inc. New/Lower Ranked Players: Casuals: Competitive Players: You then open up a DM with these potential recruits. I've got a simple line I make a variation to based on what they are looking for: This is definitely the kind of recruiting where you'll be told to screw off, but it's also the type of recruiting where you'll meet a lot of great, engaging people, too. Just get used to what kind of people will be interested in DI and message them accordingly. Bonus Info: Passive Recruiting Passive recruiting is a bit of a new idea to DI, but it means sending out a message in allchat after every game along the lines of "If you're interested in joining a multi-gaming community with a ton of events and players for X game, message me." Taking League of Legends as the example, this will reach 9 other players per game. If you play 4 games per day, that's 36 different players you reach with your recruiting message while simply playing your game of choice. It isn't as straightforward or effective as the method listed above, but it's definitely a chill, fun way for you as a member to pick up a handful of recruits a month and help out your division. Step 4: Sign Up You may think recruiting is harder now that we have an application. This really isn't true. To get them to sign up, just link them the website and have them sign up through Discord. This process is so easy, it shouldn't take more than five minutes. See the screenshot below: https://gyazo.com/a2e4b98e56ce7e4a5b6ec00ac4f949b4 Once that's done, link them the application. Walk them through step-by-step if necessary. Treat a new recruit like you would a kid - no question is a dumb question. Be prepared for lots of questions, and offer help when necessary. Typically, I will briefly explain why we have an application (to get people's info, confirm they know our basic requirements, and to be a basic barrier against toxicity), and then link it to them. I'll tell them to let me know if they need any help, then leave them alone for 10 minutes while I do something else/speak to another recruit. If I get no response from them before that 10 minutes is up, I'll ask them how it's going and we'll be on our merry way. This part really just takes practice. Recruiting is just marketing and sales. You're selling DI to them, so use personal experience on why you enjoy it to get them in here! The events and people will keep them here. Final Thoughts Here's the deal. Recruiting is not some robotic, rinse and repeat thing. You are dealing with PEOPLE, and each case is different. The #1 tool you have is being personable, kind, and easy to get along with. If you make that personal connection with them they are much more likely to join. Secondly, be efficient with your time. Unless you're passive recruiting in-game, don't mess around while you're recruiting. Set aside a specific time block and adhere to that religiously. If you're going to recruit from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, set up your pipeline then look at Discords and other sources for those two hours. Then put it down and pick it up again later or the next day. You burning out from grinding recruiting 6 hours at a time doesn't help anybody. Finally, have someone on Discord to land your recruits with. This can be a warden or vice in your division, or just one of your friends who plays their same game. This way you won't be hounded with questions or feel guilted into playing a game with them when you want to keep recruiting.
